All children deserve the right to touch and see their parents.

We've been sponsoring a bus for over six years. The first three years, we took children to see their mothers around Mother's Day, at the Women's Prison in Chowchilla, CA. then we started taking the children to see their dads, around Father's Day, at California Men's Colony, in San Luis Obispo, CA.

First Congregational Church provides travel bags for the children and their caregivers, with lots of items to use while on the long bus ride. We will also have breakfast for them at the church prior to their departure. In addition, there will be snacks for on the bus trip both to the prison and for the return home.

Our major fund-raiser to help support our efforts each year is the "Fancy Brunch." This year, we had a very successful brunch with many beautiful baskets for folks to purchase tickets for opportunities to win one. They had themes from "movie time," to "romantic dinner," makeup items, and holiday decorations, plus many more. Folks enjoyed the fun of the brunch and the activity of seeing winners get the lovely baskets.

Donations are always welcome for Get on the Bus. You can contribute through the church, by writing a check to First Congregational Church, and noting "Get on the Bus (GOTB)" on the memo line. A contribution of $75 will sponsor a family trip to the prison. Thank you for considering becoming involved with this very worthwhile project.
